Biography
I am originally from Ghana (if you couldn't tell from the name) and moved to Canada when I was 3 years old. Since then I have spent the majority of my life in Canada.
Growing up I played a bunch of different sports, and when I got into university for Engineering I didn't think varsity sports would be realistic while trying to pursue the degree. To keep fit and to have some sort of a competition through university, I started powerlifting. After my first competition I really enjoyed myself and thought I'd stick with it. I currently train out of Kings Fitness In Calgary, AB, and am coached by Nikkolas Trillo.
Throughout my powerlifting career I'd like to say I've accomplished quite a bit domestically, but my favorite accomplishment to date would be winning the 2023 Canadian National Championships. In the coming years I would love to accomplish more internationally, and have set my site and have aligned more with that.
Outside of powerlifting I work as a civil engineering consultant (in training). I very much enjoy playing a bunch of different video games, and am slowly getting into more activities, like biking and skiing.
What is your favourite lifting memory?
My favourite lifting memory is my 347.5kg deadlift at a local meet as it was my heaviest deadlift in competition to date.
What is one piece of advice you have for up and coming athletes getting into strength training or strength sport?
Get a coach early, do your accessories, and don't be close minded about going up a weight class.
What is your favourite lift or event?
Right now I like them all, but deadlifts take the cake for me at the moment.
What is your favourite product and why?
Powerlifting Knee Sleeves
The knee sleeves are my favourite go to piece of gear because of their versatility. As someone who has dealt with knee pain, having something that gives a bit of support and comfort when doing lower body movements is really nice.
What 3 other items are your go to and why?
13mm Belt
Flexible Large Wrist Wraps
Lifting Straps
The next three items are my go to items as they're all used for powerlifting and can be used for other things in the gym as well. If you have the 4 items in your gym bag, generally you'd be pretty equipped for what ever exercise you want to tackle with a little bit more support.
What colourway is your favourite and why?
Storm
I really love the colour blue, its been my favourite colour as long as I can remember. I would say eclipse and phantom are a close second in colour way.
Why do you believe SBD is the gear all athletes should use?
I believe all athletes should use SBD equipment because it has been designed specifically for the 3 powerlifting movements and the quality of the equipment is top notch.
Since starting powerlifting I looked up to the SBD sponsored athletes. They carried themselves well, and since then I always thought I wanted to be a part of that team.
