Biography
I did my first powerlifting meet in 2017, after a friend recommended I try implementing the three lifts into my training routine, and encouraged me to sign up for a meet. After stopping competitive sports, I was looking for an outlet to be competitive again and have a goal to train towards. At my first meet, I hit some new personal records, won best lifter and was hooked ever since.
My biggest accomplishment to date as an athlete was winning 2023 Nationals, which led to having the opportunity to represent Canada and compete at IPF Worlds in Malta.
I currently train at Strength Lab YVR in Vancouver, British Columbia, and I've been coached by Stephen Cascioli since 2019.
Outside of powerlifting, I work as a physiotherapist, which comes in handy with my own injury management!
What is your favourite lifting memory?
Winning Nationals is one of my favourite lifting memories, as it was so fun to have the competition held in my own city, and be able to have so many friends and family supporting me in person.
What is one piece of advice you have for up and coming athletes getting into strength training or strength sport?
Embrace a process-oriented mindset or delayed gratification when it comes to pursuing strength goals or new personal bests in your lifts. Appreciate and enjoy the process of training and learning, rather than fixating solely on end results. Success does not happen overnight, but requires patience, discipline, and time.
What is your favourite lift or event?
Squat
What is your favourite product and why?
Singlet
The SBD singlet is my favourite piece of gear because it is very comfortable to train and compete in. I love that it comes in a women's fit, which fits better in the torso and legs.
What 3 other items are your go to and why?
10mm Belt
Powerlifting Knee Sleeves
Flexible Medium Wrist Wraps
I prefer the 10mm belt as a smaller athlete, as the decreased thickness and new lower profile buckle reduces the bulk in the belt, but still provides the same amount of support. This makes it more comfortable to squat and deadlift in, without the additional thickness limiting my movements.
The powerlifting knee sleeves are very durable and compressive. The quality of SBD knee sleeves in general are amazing. I still have my very first pair from 2017 and they are still in great condition.
The new flexible wrist wraps provide the same support and compression as the previous model, but feel much more comfortable and mold to your wrist better.
What colourway is your favourite and why?
Storm
Blue is my favourite colour, so I was excited when SBD released a blue colourway!
SBD Canada has been incredibly supportive in my lifting career. They provide high quality equipment and apparel to help me perform my best, have an excellent reputation within the powerlifting and strength community, and have provided collaborative opportunities within the SBD community. They truly care about their athletes, and I am so thankful for all their support.
