Biography
I am a registered nurse and personal trainer from Thunder Bay, Ontario. Growing up in North Western Ontario, I have always loved getting outside. When I was in university I turned my love of the outdoors into a job and worked as a Wildland Forest Ranger. In order to do my job well, I had to get strong so I headed into the gym.

Over the last 9 years that love of movement and strength turned into a passion for powerlifting. I have been competing in the CPU since 2018, and since then have had the opportunity to lift at three national championships and the NAPF championships in 2023. I have broken the 69kg National and Ontario squat record, and the 69kg Ontario bench record over my career. With two second place finishes at nationals and a first place finish at NAPF, I feel like my lifting career is only getting started.

I train at a local gym called Industrial Athletics, and I have been coached by Hani from The Strength Athlete for the last 6 years. I am incredibly thankful for my partner, Alex, my family, my coach and my gym family for their support as I head to Open Classic Worlds 2024 to represent Canada.

What is your favourite lifting memory?
The NAPF championships in 2023 was an incredibly opportunity, and pulling my final deadlift to secure my Worlds Nomination total was a surreal experience.

What is one piece of advice you have for up and coming athletes getting into strength training or strength sport?
The start of anything is both exciting and scary - give yourself the grace to learn, make mistakes and have fun while doing it.

What is your favourite lift or event?
Squat has always been my best lift and was my favourite for years, but these days Bench has my heart.

What is your favourite product and why?
Powerlifting Knee Sleeves
As someone who previously hurt their knee, keeping my joints warm and safe is incredibly important to ensure I can keep getting under the bar. These sleeves make me confident, help keep me healthy, and assisted me to squat a national record!

What 3 other items are your go to and why?
10mm Belt
Flexible Medium Wrist Wraps
Singlet
The 10mm belt has been a game changer with the slimmer profile buckle. As someone with a short torso, I have struggled in the past with having the lever dig into my thighs during squats. The reduced thickness and slim buckle help me get a fantastic brace while also keeping me mobile.

The flexible wrist wraps are comfortable, easy to apply and keep me feeling stacked.

The women’s singlet is by far the most comfortable singlet on the market. The thigh holes are perfect for even the strongest legs, and the material feels soft and lets me stay mobile.

What colourway is your favourite and why?
Phoenix
The full Phoenix comp fit is so slick - the red is deep and beautiful.

Why do you believe SBD is the gear all athletes should use?
Durability, craftsmanship, and a company that believes this sport deserves the recognition it deserves! SBD makes the highest quality gear to keep us moving well and moving safe (while looking good!)

Why do you believe in working with SBD Canada as a Sponsored Athlete?
I have dreamed of being an SBD athlete since my first pair of knee sleeves. The moment I put them on, I felt like my knees were surrounded in clouds. As I purchased more SBD products and attended more competitions where I saw how much they give back to the community, I found that they were a company that truly cared about both their athletes and the entire community. It’s incredibly important to me that any brand I support supports the sport back. Powerlifting often demands so much more of us than just hours in the gym. SBD makes sure that we are recognized from the gym to local meets and all the way to the World Championships.
