Biography
I started working out in 2016, mainly focusing on the treadmill. However, after a couple of months, I unfortunately (or fortunately) developed a shin splint, which made me unable to run without pain. Wanting to keep going to the gym, I ventured into the free weights section and discovered strength training.
In 2018, I heard about a powerlifting club at my university, and I decided to sign up because I didn't know much about the logistics of the sport. They sent out an invitation for a meet-up, but at the last minute, I chickened out, and it wasn't until a year later that I officially started powerlifting.
My biggest accomplishment as an athlete is winning the IPF Junior World Championships in 2022, where I also took home a gold medal for all three lifts. In my mind, I'm just a girl from Montreal, so that was a very surreal feeling to obtain the title.
Outside of powerlifting, I have more tranquil hobbies such as reading, hiking, and crocheting.
What is your favourite lifting memory?
My favourite lifting memory is finishing on the podium at the 2024 Open Classic World Championships and qualifying for the World Games despite dealing with injuries during prep.
What is one piece of advice you have for up and coming athletes getting into strength training or strength sport?
Technique can look different for everyone (coming from a knee-caving good morning squatter)!
What is your favourite lift or event?
Squat. Since I am not as good, its progress is more rewarding.
What is your favourite product and why?
13mm Belt
I love the SBD belt. It makes me feel so much more secure and stronger when I squat and deadlift.
What 3 other items are your go to and why?
Powerlifting Knee Sleeves
Flexible Medium Wrist Wraps
Singlet
In my opinion, these three are the perfect items to complete the powerlifting ensemble. They keep my old woman joints stable and in style.
What colourway is your favourite and why?
Classic
I don't think you can ever go wrong with the signature colors.
Why do you believe SBD is the gear all athletes should use?
The equipment made by SBD is of top-notch quality. It is exactly what I need to perform well in training and on meet day while being sleek.
Why do you believe in working with SBD Canada as a Sponsored Athlete?
I believe in working with SBD Canada because they work towards the growth of powerlifting. Their efforts to push the sport, whether through organizing competitions, sponsoring meets, or designing products, align with my wish to see powerlifting thrive and reach a wider audience.
