Biography
I have been competing for 12 years. Getting into the sport, I watched a classmate compete and was instantly hooked. Being a multiple worlds finalist, and winning Alberta’s Strongest Woman a whole decade apart is a very cool accomplishment for me.
I train at The Strength Edge in Calgary, Alberta. My coach is Danii Clavelle, via Calgary Barbell.
I am from Spruce Grove, Alberta, and was born in Denver, Colorado. Having dual citizenship is keeping multiple doors open for new opportunities!
Outside of the gym, I love being outside hiding under my bucket hat, finding new activities to do with my toddler and watching her learn and explore. I am also a registered massage therapist.
I want to give a shoutout to my supportive husband who understands and supports my dreams as an athlete. Also a huge shoutout to my parents for putting me in all the sports growing up and still coming to watch me compete as an adult. It’s a pretty great excuse to go on family vacations.
What is your favourite lifting memory?
My favourite memories would be the first time I pulled a 405lbs deadlift which won my professional status, then the first time I pulled 500lbs which I thought was a lifelong goal at the time, then recently completing the duck walk to power stairs at the Arnold Pro/Am making it a buzzer beater and a crowd roarer.
What is one piece of advice you have for up and coming athletes getting into strength training or strength sport?
You can take things seriously, be competitive, and enjoy winning, but make sure you are HAVING FUN AND LOVE WHAT YOU DO otherwise what’s the point? Be patient, stay humble, and enjoy the process.
What is your favourite lift or event?
Deadlift, Yoke, Seated Truck Pull
What is your favourite product and why?
10mm Belt
It is so great to change my size on the fly. Some events I like to wear a soft belt under my 10mm belt, like for a max deadlift. Other events I prefer just my 10mm belt, like deadlift for reps.
What 3 other items are your go to and why?
Powerlifting Knee Sleeves
Oversized T-shirt
Joggers
The knee sleeves keep me feeling safe and stable under a heavy yoke, and great power on trap bar and car deadlifts.
The oversized t-shirts I'm a sucker for. They are so comfy in and out of the gym.
The joggers are also very comfy and thick. I love the fit of them where they are snug in the hips, yet stretchy and can properly warm up and stretch in them. I also love the hidden zipper pocket.
What colourway is your favourite and why?
Aspire
Purple has always been my go to colour for me. But I do also love the new drop SERENITY with the calm in the chaos. They are both cute.
Why do you believe SBD is the gear all athletes should use?
SBD gear is top notch and high quality that will last you a very long time. You definitely get your monies worth if you take your lifting seriously, or if you just need peace of mind for something reliable. The people behind the company are also amazing and helpful.
Why do you believe in working with SBD Canada as a Sponsored Athlete?
I am so honoured to be part of the SBD Canada team. The amount of attention, care, organization, dedication, and continued support I receive really makes me feel like a true professional sponsored athlete. It’s a company and a family that I can stand behind confidently and recommend to anybody.
