Biography
Born in Alberta, raised in a small town in BC, my journey in powerlifting began in 2022. This was the year I found myself standing at the entrance of the University of Alberta Powerlifting Association (UAPA). From that day on, I was taken under the wing of several long-time members who taught me everything I needed to know about powerlifting. They were also the ones who encouraged me to sign up for my first meet, PowerSurge XII.

At that meet, I was fortunate to be handled by Melnard De Leon (MDL), a local powerlifting coach and former UAPA alumni. Thanks to his guidance, I secured my first provincial record. Shortly after, he agreed to coach me, and we’ve been working together ever since; from local meets to now the international stage. I genuinely wouldn’t be where I am today without his mentorship and support.

I currently serve as the Vice President of UAPA, a role I took on to give back to a community that has impacted my life in so many positive ways. Through this community, I’ve built lifelong friendships and developed the confidence that powerlifting instills in everyone who embraces it.

My biggest accomplishment in the sport so far has been winning my weight class at 2025 CANPL Nationals, which earned me a spot on Team Canada for Junior Worlds - a dream I’ve had ever since I began competing. With that performance, I also qualified to become an SBD Canada athlete, something I never would have believed possible just a year ago.

Outside of powerlifting, I’m a full-time Mechanical Engineering student at the University of Alberta. Balancing the academic workload and training can be intense, but I firmly believe that the discipline developed through powerlifting carries over into every area of life. For me, it’s the anchor that keeps me grounded, and I honestly can’t imagine my life without it.

What is your favourite lifting memory?
Canadian Nationals 2025 - without a doubt. My family flew in from out of province, and a few of my high school friends even made a 15-hour drive to be there. Having people from so many different parts of my life come together to support me made it an unforgettable experience.

What is one piece of advice you have for up and coming athletes getting into strength training or strength sport?
Keep it simple. Consistency in sleep, nutrition, and training will take you further than anything else. I always say: "The less you think, the stronger you get."

What is your favourite lift or event?
Squats - but if I ever make a third deadlift, that might change.

What is your favourite product and why?
13mm Belt
I have used multiple belts over the years; 10mm, 13mm, prong, lever - and nothing comes close to the support and comfort of the SBD belt. It’s the only belt where I truly feel like it’s pushing me up out of the hole in a squat.

What 3 other items are your go to and why?
Powerlifting Knee Sleeves
Stiff Medium Wrist Wraps
Hoodie
Powerlifting Knee Sleeves (7mm) – I had knee pain for over a year and didn’t realize how much switching sleeves would help. After switching to SBD, my pain significantly decreased within weeks. The taper and compression are second to none.

Stiff Medium Wrist Wraps – These offer the perfect balance of support and flexibility without cutting off circulation, even during those longer sets.

Hoodie – The oversized fit, heavyweight fabric, and clean design make this a staple for me both in and out of the gym.

What colourway is your favourite and why?
Endure
The army green with black accents is subtle yet unique. It has a clean, modern look that I am a big fan of.

Why do you believe SBD is the gear all athletes should use?
First and foremost, you won’t find friendlier or more reliable customer service. The SBD Canada team is first class, and if you ever have an issue with any gear, they’ll have your back. I have used many brands over the years, and SBD is unmatched in quality. Every piece of gear I own has clearly been built to last - and that’s becoming increasingly rare in today’s market.

Why do you believe in working with SBD Canada as a Sponsored Athlete?
SBD has helped me elevate my performance with the best equipment out there. As a student athlete, finances are tight — so having access to top-tier, long-lasting gear has made a real difference. Being part of the SBD Canada community and surrounded by some of the country’s strongest athletes has pushed me to reach for more. To be seen as someone worthy of representing that community is both humbling and motivating.
