Biography
I have been competing for almost a decade. My college used to host annual college and university meets so my boss at the time, who was also a powerlifter, recommended I give it a try. I was smiling ear to ear all day during the meet and I haven’t stopped since.
Born and raised in Nigeria, I moved to Canada when I was 15. Canada is home now. I would have said my biggest accomplishment were my records but I think my biggest accomplishment is representing the country I’ve called home for 14 years.
I have had the same coach since 2019. His name is Nick Trillo but known as Panda Powerlifting. I enjoy training at commercial gyms. I put my earphone on and get to work. I have limited amount of time I can spend at the gym so I can’t train at a powerlifting gym because I end up socializing for hours. I am also trying to prove that you don’t have to train at powerlifting gyms to be the best like most people think.
Outside of powerlifting, I love exploring places and what they have to offer. I like to think of myself as a restaurateur. I love food and I think dining at a restaurant is an experience so I enjoy dining at all sorts of restaurants. I’ve been in the hospitality Industry for a decade now and I live and breathe service. Currently I’m a restaurant manager at seafood restaurant in downtown Toronto and a fashion stylist.
Finally, I have to give a shoutout to my fiancée Sarah. Dating a powerlifter can get frustrating but she has always been super supportive. Plus she’s made my life so much easier.
What is your favourite lifting memory?
Winning my first National Championship.
What is one piece of advice you have for up and coming athletes getting into strength training or strength sport?
It took me 10 years to get my first national champion title, this sport takes time. Also powerlifting cannot be your entire life. A balance is needed. Find something else you enjoy outside of lifting.

Why do you believe SBD is the gear all athletes should use?
SBD has the best quality equipment and continually gives back to the athletes.
Why do you believe in working with SBD Canada as a Sponsored Athlete?
I have been using SBD since 2016 and still have my first Singlet. I am all about working for people that give back and care about athletes.
